Vet Corner - False Pregnancy in the Bitch; by Dana R. Bleifer, DVM:
"False pregnancy, pseudopregnancy or pseudocyesis, is a common condition in intact bitches. The exact incidence may not be known, but one report found 87% of intact females exhibit signs of false pregnancy two or more times in their lifetime (Janssens LAA). It is also, on rare occasions, seen in spayed females."
