Committee News

A club is only as strong as its members! The support of club members is not only a requirement of increasing the strength of any club – but a sign of growth. Different people coming together to share their talents and their expertise is invaluable if one is to grow- not only as a club- but also as individuals dedicated to their breed.

Code of Ethics

The following is the Revised Code of Ethics.  The previous Ethics Code was written prior to the Neapolitan Mastiffs acceptance into the American Kennel Club. The American Kennel Club is the governing body that the United States Neapolitan Mastiff Club is covered under. The AKC is the keeper of the USNMC breed registry. The American Kennel Club is, and will upon proper documentation, be able to help any person who submits a valid, written complaint pertaining to puppy papers not received.  Furthermore, the AKC if contacted in writing, has the ability to revoke all registration privileges. The AKC has and will, if applied for, produce generational pedigrees.

The USNMC no longer holds the breed registry, nor do we have the authority to do so.  The American Kennel Club holds the breed registry and therefore is the only Club privy to such info. Please visit the American Kennel Clubs website for the complete information and guidance on Rules and Regulations.  www.akc.org/rules

CODE OF ETHICS

This Code of Ethics is established to set a standard of acceptable behavior for United States Neapolitan Mastiff Club Members.  The code is designed to protect the integrity of the Club and to protect and enhance our breed.

I am in good standing with the American Kennel Club.

I agree to abide by the Constitution and By-laws of the Club.

I further agree that I will not sell to pet shops nor allow any dogs under my control to be placed in said establishments.  I will not sell, consign, or donate dogs to commercial wholesales or retailers, neither will I aid and/or abet in the sale of puppies from such persons or establishments.

Members who contemplate breeding a litter, or who allow the use of their stud dog for the same purpose shall direct their efforts toward producing dogs of quality, of even temperament, vigorous and free of health problems.  They shall be familiar with the Neapolitan Mastiff breed and its USNMC/AKC approved standard and breed only those specimens which conform to it.

Members of the USNMC have an obligation to protect the welfare and the best interests of their breed by conducting themselves in a manner designed to reflect credit to themselves, the Neapolitan Mastiff, and the USNMC.

Members who exhibit shall endeavor to protect and advance the interests of the Breed by observing the highest standards of sportsmanship; conduct themselves in such a manner as to reflect positively on the sport of showing dogs; and exhibit goodwill at all shows, obedience trials, agility, rally and tracking tests.

Members shall not engage in false or misleading advertising or misrepresentation of their breed, nor shall they malign their competition by making false or misleading statements regarding their competitors’ dogs, breeding practice or person.

I understand that purposeful actions in violation of this code of ethics or actions considered prejudicial to the best interest of the Club or the Breed will be brought to the attention of the Board of Directors and may result in suspension or expulsion from the club according to the USNMC Constitution and Bylaws.
