Health and Basic Care

Being “owned” by a Neapolitan Mastiff is a joy and a big responsibility. From choosing your puppy or dog, to selecting a Veterinarian, and providing a safe environment for your Neo, his health and welfare depend on you. Find out simple and practical advice for many common Neapolitan Mastiff health concerns, symptoms and illnesses as well as breed studies currently underway by the health committee. The section is written by breed fanciers as well as the United States Neapolitan Mastiff Club’s Health Committee who understand that while there is no substitute for a Veterinarian, there are often simple things that can be done to help. We believe that every Neapolitan Mastiff owner needs to be an advocate for their dog's health. This means knowing the facts so that when faced with any kind of canine disease, you can have a productive conversation with your Veterinarian.
